Our school is an academically successful, rural high school that is filled to the brim with about 900 wonderful students. We have about half of our students who get free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch. Additionally, at our high school, we have a backpack buddy weekend food program. We serve our military community as well, pulling in students whose parents serve or work at the USMC and Naval facilities at Camp Lejeune or Cherry Point, the two Coast Guard stations, and/or Bogue Air Field.
Through our state's report card system, we have been given an "A+" designation.
We have earned this designation for the fourth year in a row. We are extremely proud of this.
My classroom consists of 7+ special needs students in which we have created an environment where they can thrive and have the best opportunities at learning life skills, job skills, and functional skills that will benefit and make their lives better. While we are already doing great things, there is a never ending need to improve and add skills.
My Project
My students need basic art supplies such as sketchbooks, card stock, canvases and some other art supplies.
Individual sketchbooks will allow each student to create an "Art Journal" through which thoughts, emotions, and self expression may take place.
Art is a big part of my students day and allows them to relax, express themselves, and independently create.
Card stock and various papers permit us, as a class, to make and deliver cards to others throughout our school. Other supplies such as Mod Podge will ensure all of their hard work and dedication is protected. In using the canvases, students will explore different ways to paint and create. Some of the students will prefer to sketch on small dry erase boards. Additional materials include a paper cutter, containers for glitter, construction paper, and stones. All of these wonderful supplies will allow my students to bring out their unique creativity and bring their ideas to life. Won't you help us bring Art to our classroom and "bring us all together?"
