My Students

My students are thirsty for knowledge and connection. They live in a rural county and live very far from each other. Sometimes school can be a second home. I believe art provides an even more necessary connection to themselves and others.

Most of my students have family in the military.

They move a lot and are required to be the "new kid" continuously. My art class provides a place where they can bond with other students through their creative self-expression. They are able to grow to find themselves and new friends. This helps them realize that they are not alone. With this type of environment, their sense of purpose and esteem is raised. My goal is to promote positive mental health. The arts can clear a path to true fulfillment artistically and academically.

My Project

These art materials will provide a lot of new ways to create for my art students! They need a variety of tools and supplies to make beautiful artworks that help them express themselves.

The art room is a special place where children are allowed to go beyond what they know and learn through the imaginative unknown.

These are supplies will encourage their critical thinking and problem solving skills in new ways. The "Colors of the World" paints, crayons and colored pencils are unique to each child's skin color. This gives them a more personalized experience of expressing themselves to the world. The black lights will be the first part of a glow in the dark art show one day.
