My students need art supplies like clay, paint, tissue paper, glue, watercolor paper and origami paper to help enrich our students by learning social studies through art.

My Students

Many of our students have difficulty focusing during our social studies periods and learn best by a hands on approach to learning.

We teach in an integrated co-teaching classroom.

Our class consists of 60% general education students and 40% are children with special needs. Using art to enhance our social studies lessons will help hook our students and give them a love for learning about different countries and may motivate them to visit these countries when they are older.

My Project

My students need art supplies like clay, paint, tissue paper, glue, watercolor paper and origami paper to help enrich our students by learning social studies through art. During our social studies periods, we are learning about different countries around the world. As we learn about one country students are excited and interested to learn more about the culture. We compare life in Africa, China, and Italy to our own lives. As we embark on our visit to these different countries through our textbook, books, and the Internet we look forward to learning about famous artists and musicians from around the world. As we learn about artists we also want to try out different art medias such as paintings and sculptures.

We recognize the efforts of the Lily, Sarah and Grace Fund that support the arts in public education and we hope supporters of Donors Choose will make our proposal a reality for our students.
