My students need iPads to help us document the amazing art being made in our art studio! My students need iPads to create their own digital masterpieces.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Our school is located on the south side of Chicago. Our school is part of a close-knit black community. My students do not have easy access to art resources like the museums downtown, but that doesn't stop them from being driven, sharp, and spectacular. My students are energetic, awesome, and creative! We've been making art together for the last 4 years.
My students deserve a rich education.
Although our budget is small, my students have proven themselves to be problem-solvers using materials that are recyclable, reusable, and accessible. With a little hot glue, cardboard, and some paint, my students can transform the mundane into the unique. Always up for a challenge, my students are determined to succeed.
These materials will open up whole new ways of making and documenting art for my students. Students will be able to use the iPads to take pictures of their artwork and upload their work to Artsonia, which is easily shared with parents. Students will also be able to develop photography skills and create video art for projects using the iPads.
Combining Art and Technology helps students to become 21st century creators.
Digital Art is inexpensive to produce, and helps kids realize that Art isn't just a painting in a museum, it is also photography, video, and everything in between!
Not every student is a painter or a sculptor. Some students need an alternative way of creating art. Photography and Video Art help students to create and express themselves in ways that don't require a paper and pencil.
In addition, drawing programs, photography, and video limit the amount of physical materials we go through and help us to become more waste-conscious in the Art Room.
