My students come to school every day ready and eager to learn. How can you study a topic with limited resources? I want them to have lifetime experiences that they will remember forever. I believe the more engaged my students are the better outcomes they will have. I need to prepare them for their future.
Many nations are represented in my classroom.
I teach at a Title I school in Brooklyn where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. The city does not fund our classroom with the necessary materials to support the curriculum. My students love to participate in S.T.E.A.M. related projects. The lack of supplies is frustrating to my students and to me as well. I teach them you get what you get and don't be upset. This is a difficult concept for third graders.
My students are excited to learn and enjoy hands-on learning experiences.
My Project
A globe will enable my students to visualize the location of all the different places in our world. The materials such as building blocks, foil paper, craft sticks and other supplies will allow my students to create numerous projects that represent famous landmarks around the world. They will need tape and glue to attach the items. Some of the projects the students will make are the Great Pyramids, African Masks, The great Wall of China, and the Roman Colosseum. With every country the students make a model of an architectural design to represent a particular place.
The donations to this project will help my students connect other learning domains such as science, technology, engineering, art, and math and will keep them highly motivated.
Hands on approaches keep my students involved with a higher rate of success. I love to see my students engaged and learning. I really need your support to make this happen. Thank you in advance for all your support!
