Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are loving Pre-Kindergarten students who are economically disadvantaged. Most come from homes with limited learning opportunities and resources. When they are introduced to the opportunity to discover and learn, they are very excited. Our class is a chance for these children to have experiences that will prepare them for kindergarten and beyond!
Since our classroom is an early childhood classroom (4-year-olds), our children's learning is focused on playing.
They think they are playing, but we really have lots of learning hidden in there!
My Project
The students in my school live in a small community in the suburbs of a large town. The ability to travel and experience other states and countries is limited for our scholars. The goal of this project is to give them these experiences!
The Google Expeditions kit would allow my students to virtually travel anywhere in the world!
For them to experience in virtual reality man-made landmarks, natural landmarks, or everyday life in places near and far.
An example of an early childhood lesson could be the animals of Africa. The students could actually experience seeing these animals in virtual reality and then describe and compare them. The older children in our school could do a social studies unit and actually visit the area they are studying! While these are examples of lessons, the things that the children could experience with this would be limitless!
