My Students
I teach in a small, cozy school in Richmond, Virginia. The children in my building are great kids; they appreciate and evolve from positive motivation and are very bright when focused and interested. We were named a National Blue Ribbon School in 2006.
Next school year, I will be a First grade teacher; I have taught Kindergarten and I have taught Second grade but never First, so it will be a welcomed new experience!
I cannot wait to see what it is like.
My Project
I love facilitating learning stations! It feels so good teaching a whole group lesson and having enriching and practice activities to accompany it afterwards.
Without learning stations, concepts would take longer to teach and practice and one already knows teachers never have enough time as it is--much less for THAT!
I am asking for new listening center equipment to replace my old station; my last one just stopped working one day last school year and it has been frustrating trying to improvise ever since.
I am also asking for leveled audiobooks to utilize with the boombox; the titles I've chosen are popular with kids (making them WANT to read) and possess vocabulary that is pertinent to my future First graders' fluency development.
I will use both in one of my learning stations 2-3 times a week, depending on the unit we are discussing at the time.
