Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are passionate, excited, and eager to learn through hands-on experiences. The majority of the students I have the privilege of serving are LatinX students. They come from various backgrounds and all have something special to contribute to the class. Our students don't have the same opportunities to experience learning outside the classroom due to funding and our rural location.
These students have the potential to grow into outstanding young Oregonians, but they do not have the same resources as the other affluent schools in our district.
I want to provide my students with the same opportunities that other students are afforded. My classroom library needs some good book sets, which help students build their reading skills while having the benefit of the same characters and similar plot.
My Project
My students have been working hard this school year! I am looking to find creative ways to help students deeply understand fractions. This is a skill they will need for the rest of their lives. Fraction games will keep students engaged, while also allowing them to build the skills necessary to join the workforce in the future.
This project will expand reading opportunities for all my diverse learners.
I have students who are below grade level to above grade level, and everywhere in between. I need a robust classroom library that will have books on various levels, so each student can find a book that isn't too easy and isn't too hard.
