This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
The targeted group of students at our Elementary will engage in hands on exploration by establishing a sustainable garden and aquatic ecosystems. The project will use the gardening supplies and pond supplies from the requested materials.
As young scientists they will take lab notes, jot down observations in their notebooks and engage in meaningful discussions about what they see, feel and hear in the different ecosystems.
Students will learn the parts of a plant as they plant seeds and monitor their growth. Different experiments will be conducted to determine the best conditions a plant will thrive.
The water cycle will be explored and students will study the impact the sun has on the water cycle as well as measure and graph rain water amounts.
