My Students
My students are young and enthusiastic adolescents. They all share a common interest in that they are very eager to learn providing they receive the right tools to complete a project.
Many student's come from similar backgrounds where it's difficult to obtain the necessary resources to provide sustenance for their families.
Their journey is to seek a better education for a chance to live the american dream. By providing the right equipment and resources, my students can learn skills and very well become tomorrows future.
My Project
Students in my classroom will be exposed to Horticulture, Aquaponics, and Aeroponics. The donations will fund the necessary supplies and materials we need to grow and maintain a plant from a seedling to maturity.
The students will learn a valuable skill that will instill in their mind forever and throughout their everyday real life environment.
Students will create a garden with a variety of different types of plants: vegetables, fruits, herbs and many local plants using the Visual Desktop Hydroponics Kit. They will learn how to manage a garden along with building a future greenhouse in our location. Students will use the Soil-Less Garden Lab to compare the advantages and disadvantages of using hydroponics versus traditional cultivation. Students will analyze the value of nutrients in the growth of plants using the Minerals and Plant Nutrients Lab. Students will learn how to make organic compost and incorporate wriggler worms to expedite the compost process using the Container Compost 3 Compartment Clear. Students will use the Mini PH Tester to check the proper PH levels in the soil. Students will create an Aquaponics system to learn about deep water culture and how to use it to grow just about anything and where they will incorporate the Air-Tech pumps and Air Releaser-12 bubble stone to keep the fish that will supply the nutrients to the plants alive. Students will have the Book Beginning Hydroponics Book as a reference manual to help them troubleshoot future dilemmas. They will also learn how to clone plants using the Aeroponics mist system.
