I teach 6th, 7th and 8th grade Agriculture, but these students are so much more than future farmers. These students are future leaders! In my classroom, Agriculture is the tool we use to help build character and confidence, while learning leadership skills and responsibility. We utilize real world situations and give the opportunity for hands-on experimental learning through our landlab and career development events. Teaching Ag to these students means more than teaching farming; they're the future of our nation. We recently started a weekly Aquaculture club where students are able to compete against other schools Statewide with the knowledge that they have obtained. The students are excited and eager to learn as much as they can.
We are reigniting passion in students by teaching them about Aquaculture in a hands on environment. Florida Agriculture is not just about cows and plows; our students need to experience more opportunities by learning about other commodities that our great state has to offer in the Aquaculture industry. Our students have shown great interest in learning all that they can over the past several weeks and are very excited at the potential growth of this program. The materials that we have requested will be used to construct suitable habitats for our aquatic livestock. The students will be participating in the construction of these tanks and gleaning knowledge from this experience.
