Applying Technology with Guidance

My students need technology during classroom guidance to stay engaged. An Apple iPad would allow me to have access to useful apps and the internet in order to provide interactive, fun lessons.

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Imagine students from low to middle income engaging in global learning in both English and in Spanish. Daily, this can be seen and heard at my school. The K-5 students that I service are from diverse backgrounds, both economically and socially. However, all of our students have a passion for academic and global learning. We are a Title I school. Some of our students have limited resources outside of school; few do not have access to technology beyond school, however that does not stop our students from achieving their educational goals.

Our students enjoy learning, especially when technology and global learning is involved.

Our students are willing and enjoy learning as much as possible.

My Project

Character education is the foundation of my school counseling program. K-5 students are provided bi-weekly guidance lessons. With the addition of portable technology and also the latest technology applications, our students will be engaged in learning social skills in a 21st century way.

Keeping students both engaged and able to interact during guidance lessons would assist in helping students learn about character traits as well as social skills.

An Apple iPad would grant access to useful education apps that would make learning both fun and current. It would also provide internet access to assist with student learning in a global way.
