Help me give my students an iPad so that I can better annotate what we are doing in class. Having an iPad I can more clearly draw and demonstrate using the touchscreen.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students at my high school come from a wide variety of backgrounds. Over 50% of our students come from low-income households. All 35 of my students are in a Special Education Study Skills class and/or a Special Education Math class. Many of our students have parents who serve in the military or work at the local military base. We have students who have parents who are seasonal agricultural workers. My goal is to take the stress off my students by providing them with the resources and materials they need to be successful in high school and beyond.
My Project
I need an iPad so that I can better annotate what we are doing in my in-person class for my students who are home quarantining.
My students are used to being able to have manipulatives in front of them to figure things out, however, many are home quarantining due to COVID contact tracing or positive COVID test.
Having an iPad I can clearly draw and demonstrate by being able to use the touchscreen. Having to use the mouse and keyboard, that currently sits at my desk, makes things a lot harder and tedious. With the iPad, I will be able to move around the classroom freely and engage with my students. I will have the opportunity to have one on one teaching with students who need extra help. The iPad would make a huge difference in math class!
