This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

What I love about my 10th-grade AP Seminar students is their incredible intellectual curiosity and their profound sense of responsibility toward climate change and environmental support. They aren't just memorizing; they're questioning, collaborating, and eager to make a tangible difference. Their passion for the planet truly inspires our classroom.

Our new AP Seminar course emphasizes climate change, demanding deep research, critical thinking, and impactful communication.

Here's how specific resources would help them learn:

For Argumentation and Research: TPT offers research project guides and argumentative writing templates focused on environmental issues. These scaffolded resources would help students develop sophisticated research questions, identify credible sources, and construct robust arguments about complex climate data or policy, directly aligning with AP Seminar expectations.

For Collaborative Inquiry: Resources like environmental case studies and simulations would allow students to analyze real-world scenarios, like deforestation impacts or sustainable development challenges. Role-playing as policymakers or scientists grappling with climate policy would foster understanding of diverse perspectives and the complexities of environmental decision-making.

For Data Literacy and Communication: Infographic templates and data analysis worksheets on TPT are perfect for helping students visualize and present scientific data from environmental reports. Guiding them through interpreting climate graphs and statistics would bolster their data literacy, a crucial skill for evidence-based arguments in AP Seminar.

For Critical Thinking and Source Evaluation: TPT provides activities focused on evaluating sources and identifying bias using climate change discourse examples. These resources would directly strengthen their ability to distinguish credible environmental science from misinformation, a vital skill for AP Seminar and beyond.

A Teachers Pay Teachers gift card would grant me access to high-quality, relevant resources that empower my students to master rigorous AP Seminar skills and become well-informed, passionate advocates for environmental stewardship, equipped to tackle the most pressing challenge of our time.
