My Students
My school is located in a rural area of Western North Carolina. I have a very diverse group of students, but all are invested in our school, their education and school activities. Helping them achieve success will ensure their future by giving them the best possible chances in life.
My class is committed to their educational success. Most of my students are involved with some aspect of our school's extracurricular program, be it athletics, academic or service clubs or the arts. Although manufacturing and corporate jobs are not as plentiful as in the past, my students are determined to learn and succeed in order to further their education.
My Project
Our AP European history textbooks only cover part of our Western Heritage. To supplement those textbooks I am creating a classroom library of both fiction and non-fiction literary works. The books I am requesting cover cultural, political and social history and their topics span across the centuries.
These new books will enhance classroom instruction and allow my students to have many different choices of books to read.
By providing my students with these opportunities, it will give them the resources to read historical topics while practicing their reading skills which will not only prepare them for class but for life.
