My Students

I have such an excited group of programmers this year! This is the first time many of them have ever attempted to program a computer. Everything is brand new, and I want to provide them with all the tools and resources that I can get my hands on!

My students go to a very large school with many options available to them.

This is the first year that computer programming has been offered, and so over half of the students in the class signed up just to see what what computer programming was. They wanted to try something new and challenging. Others have been teaching themselves how to program and want some guidance to become more advanced at this skill.

My Project

I am requesting a set of books containing new programming problems and AP test help. I will be using them to set up a library of programming books in my classroom. Because there is such a wide range of programming knowledge in my classroom, I always give my students several options for what they would like to work on each day. I have been providing various lectures, labs, and projects for students to choose between. Having a mini-library of test-preparation books gives another option to my students. Especially as the AP test gets closer, my students will be able to read through these books or try practice test problems, gaining a larger sample of test problems and advice on doing their very best on that test. I plan to use some of the new and interesting programming problems from these books in classroom labs and pair-programming projects too.

My students are very excited about learning how to program a computer, and the wider variety of programming problems that these books will provide will help them gain even more skills.

Plus, students will have resources available to them for studying for that AP exam coming up!
