Ants and Dams How Do They Work???

Help me give my students a better understanding of how ants build colonies by watching ants. We also have a lesson where we build dams which will use the clay. The tote bags help them transport computers.

My Project

One of our units we learn is about different ways that animals protect themselves and how they live. We look specifically into ants and have ants farms that we watch and observe. Right now we have only 2 ant farms out of the 5 Kindergarten classrooms. We would like to have enough for each classroom so the children can watch it on a daily basis and observe differences from the day before.

Another unit in science we learn about is different waterways and how beavers and other animals can effect it.

The children build their own dams with modeling clay and explore how it effects the bodies of water and changes the waterways. The stem toys will be used for building houses and trees around the dams to see how water can effect them as well. For example, flooding and droughts and how communities depend on certain types of water ways for things. We will also use the STEM toys for creative play and imagination in the mornings or indoor recess.

The bags are needed for our classroom to carry supplies to other places in our school. For example, computers to technology class and project supplies to other Kindergarten rooms when we collaborate.
