This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach two general education classes and one inclusion class of wonderful 7th graders. Each student that enters my room is given many opportunities to learn and grown throughout the year. I strive to make my classroom a safe haven for my students and a home away from home!

The school district has suffered so many budget cuts, that I am left with very little money to purchase anything other than mandated material.

Without funding the simplest of supplies slip through the cracks and anything to update the room is out of the question.

My Project

Last year I got a whiteboard to use for student objectives and daily assignments. The whiteboard is awesome to write on, but I didn't want to tape things on it. Each unit I teach I have posters and student work to display and nowhere to display it.

My classroom still has the original 1929 chalkboard, so next to the whiteboard I used paper and duck tape to create an area to hang up posters.

By mid-year, I had sagging duct tape and faded paper with the border taped to it. With a new bulletin board, I will be able to use thumb tacks on my unit posters and the room will have a clean and professional appearance.
