My Students

I teach 175 6th graders throughout my day. Our school has a minority majority, as we have a very diverse population. There are 5 students that are brand new to the US and many who have been here for only a handful of years. There are so many languages being spoken in our hallways on a daily basis. We have a beautiful mix of world cultures.

My students have had over a year of disrupted learning, but they are so happy and excited to be back in school with each other.

I am lucky to get to work with them and learn from them everyday.

My Project

The world is in need of leaders who understand the systemic use of racism in our country. This book will hopefully be the first step in a lifetime of anti racism work. My students will read, discuss and engage with the text to understand it’s impact on them. As a school with world majority demographics, this book will discuss how the system affects their own lives. We will then discuss how to use this information as an agent of change in their lives and the lives of those in the future.
