My Project

At BLL, our students are amazing, energetic, and creative learners. Our school is a magnet school. Therefore, our student body is made up of diverse children from various towns and cities in our region of the state.

We strive to keep our students and families engaged by making learning fun and concrete and by creating opportunities for our parents and caregivers to engage in fun activities with their children that help to support their social-emotional growth, as well as enhance family connection.

The overall goal of this event is for students and families to develop five core competencies:

Self-Awareness

Social Awareness

Self-Management

Relationship Skills

Responsible Decision Making

The Student and Family Wellness and Mindfulness Fair is going to be a fun and engaging activity for our students and their families. Planned activities for this event include: Mindfulness painting activity, creating stress balls, creating mindfulness stones, and yoga, family engagement games. Additionally, we will raffle prizes that promote self-care at home, social-emotional learning at home, and family engagement. Prizes include: self-care gift baskets, family movie night pack, and games.

The hands-on family engagement activities that we are planning for our annual Student and Family Wellness and Mindfulness Fair will allow students and families to engage in enjoyable, collaborative learning experiences and help them to enhance family relationships, communicate effectively with one another and work together to problem-solve issues that may impact them individually and as a family.

Students will benefit from this as they hone their social skills and learn the importance of self-management and self-care. Learning starts at home, whether intentional or not. This project will benefit our students and their families as we strengthen the connection between school and home.
