Animals Here, Animals There Animals Everywhere!

Help me give my students and my K0/K1 colleagues the tools they need to start the next unit. These resources will be used across three classrooms and provide 49 students with materials for learning for years to come.

My Project

The early childhood classrooms are adopting a new curriculum that is being created as I type this essay. We recently learned the first book in Unit 3; Squirrels Leap, Squirrels Sleep by April Pulley Sayre and illustrated by Steve Jenkins is recently out of print. This project would make it possible for all three classrooms (49 children) to have two copies of the text. This would make it possible for children to reread books since each classroom would have multiple copies. In addition, this project would also provide classrooms with additional copies of supplemental texts to add to the curriculum.

Later in this unit, the focus is on ocean animals and the science resources, math counters and literacy games will allow all three classrooms to connect learning across content areas.

Each classroom would have real ocean objects for children to observe and draw and most importantly talk about their observations. All of these resources would allow teachers to stay true to the curriculum, and also add additional tools that will help children to make connections. These new supplies will get them thinking and talking about animals as they look at books, create in the art studio, or in drawing and writing as they create animal stories.
