They love that they now have vibrant colors to use in their daily work. They were so excited to see the box full of markers with 16 colors. One student created a verry colorful picture and said it was a masterpiece! \r\n\r\nMy students wanted to touch all of the markers when they came and we passed the box around so everyone could feel the new markers. Then they decided they needed to test each color out and we handed out paper and let them explore the new colors we did not have before. \r\nStudents are now able to use markers several times throughout the day. In addition, the new magic boards are great for writing letters, numbers and using in drawing and writing. All of these materials will help students become readers and writers as they develop pre-literacy skills and learn through playful opportunities each day.\r\n\r\nI was really amazed when my project got funded. It is the generosity of all the donors that made my project a reality. I was excited to receive the Lego trucks as I was beginning the unit Building Our Working City. They love them and get to pretend they are builders at the block table. Also all the art materials are a great addition to our Art Studio and have been added to the art bins and they have been busy creating with the art wheels and bingo markers.\r\n\r\nIn my classroom, we have been doing a lot of shared writing and reading charts to help children to see print. They really enjoy making the charts, and then turning it into a class book for the library. All of the colored pencils will be used as they illustrate their page in the class books. I am excited to add this component to the curriculum and provide more opportunities for children to draw and see themselves as authors and illustrators.
