My students need 25 i clickers for the Smartboard. It is an interactive way for my students to learn and a way for me to monitor their progress especially during math.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Remember sitting in math class as a student and not wanting to raise your hand to call out the answer because you were shy or unsure if your answer was correct...well those days are over! With the i clicker, responses will be displayed and students and teachers can see and check if they are correct.
I teach in a bilingual elementary school setting where 60% of the day is taught in English and 40% is taught in Spanish.
My school's population is comprised of 90% Hispanic students. I teach fifth grade Math, Spanish and Social Studies and my partner teaches 5th grade Reading, Language Arts and Science. I teach Spanish and Social Studies in Spanish and Math in English. I switch groups with my partner mid-day so I teach two groups a day. For my ESOL group, I use ESOL strategies to help them understand the math since most of them came to this country and short time ago. Our school setting is unique in that most of our students are fully bilingual in English and Spanish by the time they leave to middle school. My students are eager to learn and enjoy learning from a variety of different resources not only paper and pencil activities.
My Project
About 80% of my lessons are taught through my Smartboard. It is an interactive way to teach and students respond well to it. The Smartboard allows me to introduce a wealth of information to my students through different websites that would otherwise not be possible. For my visual learners it is a great tool for them to retain information. For my kinesthetic learners, it works well because they can come up and participate through interactive games and lessons. With the use of the i clickers I am requesting, I envision all of my students being able to participate simultaneously during a lesson. I imagine them all being able to answer a math question with the i clicker and view their responses immediately. I try and replicate the i clickers with white board, Although the students all enjoy participating, it is time consuming and not interactive. With the use of the i clickers, if I display a math question on the Smartboard, all the students can answer using their i clickers instantly.
This donation will impact my students in a positive way, especially my ESOL students.
Using the i clickers makes responding to questions easier for all, especially for those who are shy because they do not speak English well. The i clickers will make students feel like part of a class and will enable all students to participate in the lesson without feeling the pressure to answer aloud. Using the i clickers is a wonderful way to keep students engaged and focused on the lesson being taught.
