My Project

We all appreciate praise and recognition for a job well done. However, receiving a tangible item that makes your eyes sparkle and your heart glad is beyond amazing. Rewarding students hard work outwardly helps to motivate them to continue on the positive path, as well as enhance their intrinsic motivation.

My goal for this project is to focus on Social Emotional Learning with my students.

As students work towards accomplishing academic and behavioral goals they learn to develop intrinsic motivation, become more self aware, make responsible decisions, and develop social awareness.

My second grade students work daily to accomplish academic and behavioral goals. They are familiar with specific incentives that have been implemented as part of the classroom reward system. I have also seen them bring in creative items that pique their interest. During group time talks, they shared their thoughts on classroom incentives of interest, which led me to look into purchasing these items in bulk. After researching, I found ways to try to acquire these items for the class setting to tie into classroom reward system. This will also make them aware that their input is valued and has an impact on their classroom environment.
