My Students

I am a 6th grade ELA teacher at a K-8 charter school. I am always looking for creative ways to capture my student's attention. I took over mid year and getting them to engage any subject took a great bit of effort. Several months in, we have made tremendous progress. For the most part, grades have improved significantly. Student engagement is at a high point.

I make a genuine commitment to creating lessons that help the content come alive everyday.

My Project

I am requesting easel pads and markers as anchor chart supplies to supplement students' learning of ELA concepts. These charts will be teacher and student created and will help students connect background information with the lessons being taught.

The addition of these tools will help us complement what we already use, and by having the students create these charts they will have ownership of their learning.

The anchor charts we create help my students to have visual to refer back to of what we are learning/have learned. It would help tremendously to have these for student to use as they work independently. Anchor charts allow them to have reminders all over the room, so they can take control of their own learning!
