My Students

Our school is a K-2 school with around 1,000 students. My students are a group of kids who are hard-working, inquisitive, creative, helpful, and kind. My students represent countries all over the world, as well as learning levels from kindergarten through third grade. We have a diverse population where some of my students need daily intervention while others need daily enrichment.

My Project

We have just purchased a new reading series for our district. In this new curriculum, we are making a variety of anchor charts daily to aide in student learning. Anchor charts are powerful learning and teaching tools for both students and teachers. My first graders are visual learners and anchor charts will support their academic learning. For myself, using anchor charts during my lesson, will help to ensure that I address all of my topics I am teaching for that particular day.

Anchor charts help students recognize learning goals, establish learning expectations, and they are a great tool to review concepts.

I am requesting anchor chart paper and writing items such as flip chart markers to support my daily use of creating anchor charts. Students will be engaged in learning because they will have an active role in helping to create these visuals. Finally, they will be able to have constructive peer-to-peer conversations about our learning objective for the day.
