My students need a chart stand to organize the many anchor charts in my classroom. They also need books at their reading level about heredity and traits for an upcoming science unit!
I love teaching first grade at a school in rural Maine serving students in grades Pre-K through sixth. A very high percentage of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Many students are able to have enough to eat in order to be ready to learn thanks to a local group that sends home bags of healthy food each week. I have been teaching in this district for 31 years, and it is my home away from home!
My classroom is getting over run by anchor charts!
My students and I build these charts together as part of reading, writing and math workshop as visual supports/reminders. They need to be readily available for students to reference, but I need a way to keep them available AND keep the visual stimuli at a reasonable level!
My students also need books at a variety of reading levels about heredity traits for an upcoming science unit!
My Project
My students need books about heredity traits for an upcoming science unit that are at an appropriate reading level so that I can integrate science and literacy most effectively!
The chart stand will provide a way of organizing the sea of anchor charts that my students and I create during reading, writing and math workshop.
These charts need to be readily available for mini lessons and student reference, but are currently taking over the room and creating too much visual stimuli for many learners.
Your donation will greatly help by providing these needed materials and will be very much appreciated by both my awesome first grade learners and their teacher!
