This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have such a special group of hard-working students this year in my physical science classes. They are remarkably appreciative of even the smallest gestures. I have been impressed by their level of compassion and willingness to lend a hand to one another. Because the majority of the students qualify for free/reduced lunch, they do not have much (if any) school-spirit apparel. This project would allow me to use my classroom Cricut machine to heat-press the school's mascot onto each shirt so that the shirts would be permissible to wear to school.

To surprise this special group of students with shirts where they tie-dye their own masterpiece while learning about the chemistry (chemical changes/covalent bonds) and physics (light/color) of tie-dying would be INCREDIBLE.

I have no doubt the students would cherish this project, not to mention, school apparel helps build their sense of pride and belonging to the school community. Thank you so much for considering supporting this amazing group of teens.
