Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a second-grade teacher in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I teach underprivileged students from many diverse backgrounds. This is the second year that my school is implementing the Everyday Mathematics program, better known as Chicago Math. The beginning of each math lesson consists of a mini-lesson on the meeting area, where the teacher instructs and models for the students. The program enables the students to learn math concepts through the use of manipulatives. Although the program and manipulatives enhance math in my classroom, one of the things that my classroom lacks is an overhead projector to demonstrate the manipulatives. An overhead projector would allow all students to see the demonstrations from their spots on the carpet. This would enable them to participate more freely in the math lesson. Would you please help enhance my math curriculum with the help of an overhead projector?
