Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Many of our students come from very economically and emotionally disadvantaged homes. However, upon entering the classroom these students are able to overcome these challenges due to the strong community of our school and passionate teachers that really care about them. As a result my students work hard to meet high academic standards and surpass economic and social barriers. My students truly enjoy and thrive from hands-on learning. They not only care about their learning but each other as well.

My Project

For many of my students their backpack is the most valuable personal item they own. They decorate it to reflect their personality and fill it with their most prized schoolwork and creations. Without a designated area to store backpacks and coats, they are stepped on and lost. In addition, a rack would help keep the classroom organized and clear of tripping hazards. This would help increase learning and facilitate movement around the classroom during group work, games, and rhythm and movement. My students’ learning is increased tenfold when they can move freely and express themselves in a variety of ways.
