My Students

I have a great bunch of students this year. They are hard workers, eager to please, and learning to love reading. Learning this year during the time of COVID has been difficult though. We've had to make a lot of changes to the way students participate in school, and not all have been positive changes, though necessary to prevent the spread of COVID in our classrooms. What has always been important has been the necessity of learning to read well and the joy people experience once hooked.

My Project

Since the onset of remote learning due to COVID-19, teachers and students alike have rapidly learned new technology and methods of teaching and learning from afar. As an English teacher, I have had to make drastic changes in my approach to teaching in order to provide high-quality instruction while facing the many limitations presented by the pandemic.

In truth, English class requires lots and lots of reading.

Yet, the library is often off limits to us, and students don't always come to school with a book ready to read or a device ready to use. Having an iPad on hand in class will allow me to use device-specific apps with students for the purposes of reading, writing, and learning vocabulary.
