This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

It's no secret that teenagers love technology. iPads have changed the way teachers give instruction and the way that students acquire information. My goals are to increase student outcomes in reading comprehension, phonics, and phonemic awareness.

Access to technology is a surefire way to spark learning and improve academic performance.

Since the students I work with are English Language Learners who are also adults new to the country, there are not a lot of materials that fit their unique needs. I would like to create my own books using words we brainstorm together, set in places that are familiar to them, like their home countries, and filled with characters that look like them.
