Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students start their school day at 7:15 and many students stay everyday until 5:00 pm.
We believe in the power of literacy, team and family, and building character through our seven character strengths.
Teachers have high expectations of their students and students work hard to achieve goals that they have set for themselves. When I asked my students to describe themselves, this is what they came up with: We are curious learners that ask a lot of questions. We read a lot. We are optimistic because when something is hard, we still try to do our best. We have a variety of talents.
Our students are inquisitive and strive to improve on a daily basis.
My Project
This iPad will be used in multiple ways. It will be used primarily as a teaching tool in conjunction with an apple TV. Using the iPad, the teacher will be able to model reading strategies, show 3 dimensional models of historical artifacts and regions. The iPad will make it possible for the entire class to engage in guided learning that goes beyond textbook work.
Reading and leaning about history should be engaging.
Gone are the days of memorization. The iPad will provide opportunities for students to learn how to engage with multiple types of texts, analyze online media, and develop a further love of history.
