My Students

The "Age of Technology" has arrived! With our new Promethean Board, whiteboards of the past transform into interactive teaching, and dynamic learning tools. The ActivSlate and pens, will promote student interaction with the board from anywhere in the classroom!

I teach a fifth grade high ability class.

My students are inquirers, always seeking answers to their many questions, and skilled communicators, who enjoy working together and sharing their discoveries. My students thrive when they are given opportunities for hands-on exploration and experiences with different types of technology. As a teacher of high ability students, I strive to give them new and unique opportunities, where they can take the lead on their own learning, and I can facilitate the process. The integration of technology continues to give them the types of experiences that allow them to become self-directed learners. Our school has a high poverty rate, with a transient community, and a high ESL population.

My Project

The Promethean Board turns an ordinary white board into an interactive teaching and learning tool. Anything that can be done on the computer can be projected onto the board, engaging students with interactive lessons, activities, and audiovisuals. The ActivSlate and ActivPens give students access to, and control of the board from anywhere in the classroom. Students can work at their seats, move around the room, sit in groups, and still work with the board. In this way, the white board will truly become an integrated component of our classroom. Students will increasingly participate in math lessons, by communicating individual problem-solving strategies and processes with their classmates. They will create multimedia Social Studies projects, and have a chance to present them in a brand new way! The ActivSlate will familiarize the students with cutting-edge technology, help them continually improve their communication skills, and create a more student-centered classroom!

My goal is to provide all of my students with relevant and engaging experiences.

Technology is becoming a significant component of our day-to-day lives, making it necessary to integrate it into the classroom. Your support of this project will allow me to do this.
