Help me give my students a physical classroom learning environment that reduces anxiety, promotes freedom of expression, and gives students more choices to take ownership of their learning experiences.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are a public school that isn't quite Title I, but has needs all the same. We are a global school that seeks to help our students learn more about the world around us. We even have Participate Teachers, international teachers who come from all over the world to teach students Spanish. The students are vibrant and curious about the world and deserve the best education possible. The students, staff, families, and communities are dedicated to this cause, but we need your help.
My Project
Sometimes math and reading can give students anxiety. I want to reduce their anxiety by first creating a physical environment where students can feel comfortable and at ease. I want to empower my students in their learning, so let's start giving them a choice with where they sit and what they would like to sit on through flexible seating. Then we can focus on the curriculum once we have created a physical positive learning environment. Students who are energetic and need to move can find ways to channel that energy without distracting the class, by using flex seating. Ultimately, I want flex seating in my classroom, so my classroom empowers my students to be cooperating individuals. My students are all unique, but they also create one classroom family, so help me create an environment that promotes that.
