This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is a Title I school in one of the counties known for a high percentage of lower SES families. My students are STEMM Magnet and they are very bright and inquisitive. We are a public magnet high school in an urban city. All my students want to go to college and their parents pay very close attention to their education. Many of them plan to study science, engineering, medicine, and etc. Since a high percentage of the population of our state speak Spanish, many of our school's students study Spanish, and I am one of the few Spanish teachers at our school.
My students are determined learners who yearn for variety and excitement in their lessons and have limited opportunities and resources.
Our school lacks some of the technology needed to help my students participate in the global education community.
My Project
My students need a HP All-in-One printer and a Bose speaker in the classroom for more effective Spanish learning via visual and audio illustration capabilities. Due to the budget cutback in the last several years, our school could not upgrade most of our equipment, and the printer in my classroom is over fifteen years old and often breaks down.
In order for me to teach my Spanish classes more effectively, I often need to print out more interesting material for my teachings.
I also need to scan material, edit it, and then display on a computer to make my teaching more efficient and more interesting to the students. It also makes it easier for students to visualize and understand what I am trying to show them. Since the printer in my classroom is so old, and does not have scan feature. I need an All-in-One printer that has print and scan features.
I also need a speaker for my Spanish teaching. It will provide my class with a more robust and more effective audio system that is essential for teaching any language. The combination of the visual capability provided by a printer/scanner and the audio capability provided by a speaker will significantly improve my Spanish teaching.
