My Students

Do you love books? My students love books! They especially love big books. Big books are fun to read!

My students are in an early intervention class in our school district.

They range in ages from 3 to 5. My students have special needs. Most are developmentally delayed and have speech and language delays. Some have physical needs. It is my job to prepare these children for success in a general education kindergarten classroom.

My Project

In order to have success in kindergarten, my students need to be ready to read. One of the ways we can increase a child's literacy is to read to them. Big books are our favorite way to read. At the present, when I read a big book, I must hold it in my lap. It can be very awkward when I have to turn the page. If my students want to read the big book independently, they must lay the book on the floor. A big book easel would help us read our big books without damaging them. There is an easel on the front that will hold the books along with a dry erase board. In the back, there is storage for easy access to our books.

My goal is to instill a love of reading in my students.

This big book easel will help me reach that goal. This easel will help me read to my students and help my students read independently.
