This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach in a high poverty school, near downtown Richmond, VA. My students face many challenges, both in and out of the classroom. Being at school is a safe haven for many of my students, as some of them face heartbreaking circumstances at home. They come to class to learn, as well as to feel connected to others. I provide my students with a learning environment that is engaging and caring.

My second grade students are curious, clever, energetic, and full of wonder.

They love to learn!

My Project

My students love to be engaged and use technology during class lessons. Our favorite small group and whole group apps include Nearpod, Kahoot!, and Seesaw. We use Kahoot! to create exciting and important lessons as well as to review important curriculum.

We travel the world through virtual field trips that bring our learning to life.

This is a necessity, as many of my students rarely leave their neighborhood.

Computers, iPads, projectors, document cameras, and SMART Boards are a rarity and are limited in my school. Having these iPads, in our classroom, brings us a step closer to the 21st century and will help compliment my students' learning. We will use our iPads for small group, whole group, and station learning.

iPads will enhance my students' learning experience by engaging my students in lessons that are interactive and exciting.
