I teach a 6th grade class with over 30 students and every morning brings with it a new, exciting adventure. We are doing a lot of project based learning where computers are an absolute necessity. Our classroom is constantly creating new and interesting ideas while expanding their horizons.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds and cultures.
They are very creative and artistic and have a strong drive for learning. We have excellent support from our community and our parents are very active in their child's education. Our school is active in recycling and keeping our community clean through school based out-reach programs. Our school receives no Title 1 money or outside funding so we are in desperate need of more technology to keep our students abreast of technological advances.
My Project
We are requesting three ipad minis to allow more students to have accessibility to technology. We also purchased three insurance packs to ensure the continual use of these ipads along with three ipad cases and one ipad docking station. We also requested an ipad camera connector which will allow us to upload from other sources.
My students are amazing with their understanding of technology but we need access to more equipment. We would really like our students to learn how to create media art, learn how to correctly research topics through technology, facetime or stream with scientists, authors, and artists to learn and share ideas, as well as understand the safety issues related with computers and the Internet.
These donations will greatly benefit my students by giving them the hands-on technological learning they must have in this constantly evolving, computer based world.
My students will also learn the great responsibility of working with technology and will be able to create media based PSAs to help improve students' lives everywhere.
