Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach ELL students and my class has 32 students in it. My students are eager to learn, enjoy school, and are motivated to succeed. They love to use their imagination and grow as learners. We are a large school with over 1,000 students. We are a Title I school and all of the students in my school receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of the students in my school are English as a second language learners. Even though, we are learning in a different way, my students come to school with big smiles and are ready to learn and achieve great things!

My Project

What can be more challenging than figuring out how to navigate a completely new world of teaching online? Doing so with unreliable and outdated technology! Coming together digitally brings so much joy to my students' lives. In a time with so much disconnection and isolation, remote learning has proven to be critical in maintaining not only their academic aptitude, but also their social-emotional well beings. My heart breaks when I can't reliably provide this for them! When my outdated computer doesn't work, my students are not able to receive instruction and more importantly interaction with their peers. Their valuable time is wasted waiting for my glitches, lagging and frozen screen to resolve. By receiving a new laptop, I will be able to make efficient use of their time and mine by focusing on instruction, not troubleshooting tech.
