This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As an educator serving in the 21st century with Gen Z and tech-savvy scholars, it is imperative to have proper tools and materials for quality instruction, student data collection, and professional development. Currently, my school-issued laptop is close to 10 years old, does not work unless plugged in (I have lost so much data bc of this), does not have working audio, no camera, and does not connect to a printer.
It is essential to have materials and tools to create an engaging learning environment that meets the needs of the student-focused learning community I serve.
My students are all extraordinary kids! Most of these students reside in a poor, urban area that is grossly underfunded and, in some areas, lacking even the most basic of needs. Although many of them come from tough neighborhoods and lifestyles, they are strong, smart, and full of life. These are the critical thinkers of tomorrow.
This Apple iMac desktop will be a powerful tool that will enhance not only my craft as a teacher, but my students' experience as well. I will be able to take virtual courses. These courses will allow me to grow professionally in my knowledge of literacy and social-emotional learning. It will also allow me to collaborate with my colleagues on a regular basis. I will use the desktop as a tool to prepare myself with the technological demands of Common Core and prepare me for the 21st century. I will create interactive Google slides and graphic organizers of content-based learning to improve my craft as a teacher and support the Common Core State Standards. I will also be able to acquire new teaching strategies through the online professional development of the Common Core State Standards and ELA planning. I need to have access NewsELA, HMH Read180, Savvas.
