My Students

I am an ETK teacher at a Title 1 ETK-6th grade school located in the Northeast LA area. ETK is the lowest grade offered in public schools, and as such, plays a key role in a child's attitude toward school for the rest of his/her education.

An ETK class is a child's first school experience, and should lead them to be enthusiastic about moving forward on their educational journey.

It should be welcoming and warm, but also equip students with the necessary tools to help boost their confidence and knowledge to feel positively about their future as students.

My Project

Working virtually with any student, as any teacher, presents its challenges. "How do I get my kids to engage? How do I keep their attention?" has crossed every teacher's mind. In my mind, an iPad and Apple Pencil may help.

An iPad and Apple Pencil are just the tools I think I need to best engage my students during this at-home learning structure.

These tools can be used in such a variety of ways. I plan to use them to keep my 4 year old students more engaged and attentive during our lessons. They will be used for such things as chart making and step-by-step drawing lessons, as well as writing tools to better instruct my students on how to form specific letters, numbers, and shapes.

Once it is safe to return to a classroom environment, these tools will have continued use. They will still be very helpful in keeping students engaged as well as allowing them to practice their fine motor skills on an interactive platform.

An iPad and Apple Pencil will help my students for years to come. They will allow them to be future ready learners and help prepare them for their educational journey.
