I teach in a beautifully culturally diverse Title I School. I have 25 students who adore learning. These students are happy to be at school, even without all of the supplies they need. They work together, problem-solve and share to make sure that everyone gets what they need. I want to give these students every opportunity to explore their potential, and to access high paying careers. I believe these students should also have a classroom full of materials that reflect them, their culture and their interests.
My Project
Access to technology jobs is not only a matter of equity, but a matter of representation in the world as a whole. The future of coding must be diverse so that all people are represented in systems, careers and opportunities. Let my classroom foster this message with a coding adventure starter pack! I intend to teach Code.org's curriculum including plugged and unplugged lessons, in my diverse 4th grade classroom. This will provide access and opportunities for generations of learners to come. Not to mention, students adore coding and technology. It opens doors not only to technology but to critical thinking, cooperation and problem solving. Help my students go on a Coding Adventure!
