With 20 classes and 450 students, finding ways to help students stay focused requires different tricks than a traditional classroom teacher typically uses. I change the color of the lights depending on the grade level to help student (any myself!) remember which color coded vocabulary and learning targets are for their grade level. These will be perfect for the first few weeks of school, and will provide an easy sub plan for me to leave, saving me hours of lesson planning. \r\n\r\nMy favorite part of this package was the scientist posters. I have hung these up above the whiteboard where students will see them every day. It is an amazing resource for students who are more confident and capable at reading in Spanish, so that they can balance the more simple, lower level texts that they're learning to read in English with books that are more exciting and at their grade level in their home language. It's also a really rich opportunity for students whose families might speak Spanish, although the children may not have much experience with reading in Spanish. Being both bilingual and biliterate is an invaluable skill!
