My Students
The student body at my school is racially diverse, with over 40 countries of origin represented. Most of the parents at our school are very involved and push their children to succeed. However, we have a very high percentage of students who free or reduced price lunch. Our school offers many AP courses and has a reputation as being a challenging school.
Physics courses are challenging and students are much more successful when they have hands-on experiences.
This is my first year at this school and I am working to get the supplies to lead students to success.
My Project
This is my first full year as a high school physics teacher and I have planned a field trip to take my students to Six Flags Great Adventures to experience and study the physics of amusement parks. I went on an Amusement Park Physics trip in high school and it is one of my favorite high school memories so I want to give my students the same opportunity.
In order to take the data called for in the workbook, students will need the Amusement Park Physics measuring tools for measuring time, speed, and acceleration.
I would like this classroom set of these tools for this year's trip and to allow me to do this trip again in the future.
