My Project

My Students

My 5th-grade students in Laredo, Texas, are resilient, hardworking, and determined to succeed despite their challenges.

Many of my students are English language learners, navigating the complexities of learning a new language while mastering grade-level content. They strive to do their best daily and deserve resources that set them up for success.

My Project

I am requesting headphones with built-in microphones to enhance my students’ learning experiences and support their academic growth. These tools will provide critical support in:

TELPAS (Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System): Students will use the microphones to record their speaking samples during assessments, improving their fluency and ensuring they meet state standards for language proficiency.

Lexia Core5: As students work on personalized literacy activities, the headphones will help them focus on tasks while allowing them to verbally engage with the program to strengthen their reading and comprehension skills.

STAAR (State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness): The headphones will be instrumental in listening comprehension activities and test preparation, allowing students to better understand audio instructions and respond effectively.

The Impact

Providing headphones with microphones will allow my students to:

Practice and refine their speaking and listening skills, critical for success in TELPAS.

Engage fully in interactive, research-based literacy programs like Lexia, fostering a love of learning and building confidence.

Prepare for STAAR with focused practice on listening and reading comprehension, ensuring they perform to the best of their abilities.

This project will create a more inclusive and productive classroom environment where every student has the tools they need to thrive. Your support will ensure that my students have access to resources that will help them excel academically and build lifelong skills.
