The hands-on materials gave them the chance to explore science instead of just reading about it. They used the friction boards to test how different surfaces affected movement, the Sun-Earth-Moon model to better understand Earth's rotation and revolution, and the water cycle kit to see evaporation, condensation, and precipitation happen. My students were excited to use the materials and enjoyed making predictions, testing their ideas, and talking about what they observed. These activities were especially helpful for my bilingual students because they could see the science happening while learning and using important science vocabulary.\r\n\r\nThe resources also helped my students prepare for and succeed in the 5th Grade Science STAAR. The hands-on activities helped them better understand difficult concepts and gave them practice with skills they needed for the test, such as making observations, finding patterns, using evidence, and explaining their thinking. Because they were able to connect what they learned to real experiences, they were more confident when answering science questions and explaining their answers.
