Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
DMS employs the Ron Clark Academy House System and I am one of the adult leaders of the House of Amistad. As a "house" we model leadership, empathy, compassion, and most importantly - FRIENDSHIP! We have bi-monthly meetings where we collaborate, create, play games, and have FUN celebrating our likes, differences, and each other! Our school climate has improved dramatically since we began the RCA system and I am excited to bring on a whole new group of students next year to join us.
I am looking for a set of red spirit items that our House of Amistad members can bring with them to our assemblies and house competitions that will help boost participation, community, and joy.
I believe that when students really feel apart of something, the character traits we hope to see in them begin to emerge.
We are a Title I school and funding is always tight. I'm hoping that by adding a little pizazz and color to our House of Amistad that school spirit, compassion, and engagement will increase.
