This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend a Title 1 school that is currently facing several budget deficits, much like the rest of our school district. They are little scientists eager to experiment and reach the opportunities that they have not had prior access to. We work and grow as a team in order to explore the different ways science affects our daily lives and I love to see the wonder in their eyes when they finally make those connections themselves. As of now, my students have peered through the windows of science and the value it brings into their lives.

However, what they now need is an opportunity to apply their growth and knowledge in a way that prepares them for a future where STEM and innovation have such a stronghold.

Introducing my students to the many ways science and technology go hand in hand could help them gain interest in future STEM careers and further their dreams of helping their community.

My Project

By providing my students a class set of Amazon Fire tablets, we will be able to collaborate in ways that had not been available before. Students will be able to conduct their own, independent research on topics that spark their passion for science. They will also be able to use these tablets to participate in various, collaborative applications throughout our class lessons.

With easy access to technology, students will recognize the world at their fingertips and break away from any barriers they might come across due to the low socio-economic community of the school.

My goal is to inspire students to always search for answers, even for the toughest questions, and to able to provide this experience in the safe environment of our classroom.
