This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work with a large culturally and linguistically diverse group of amazing learners, which includes K-3rd grade levels. Our classroom environment is warm, welcoming, and student-friendly. My students are an amazing group of individuals with various abilities. Our classroom is full of students who are ready to learn and who will persist.
The Service Stars Mission of the Month for January is “Promote Wellness.” This project relates to the monthly mission because when students learn how to give and receive compliments, they develop strong social skills, enhance their communication abilities, and boost their self-esteem.
Each display frame will include each student's name and will showcase their artwork and work samples. Students will pick what item they would like to display. Then they will have time to view the display wall and reach out to classmate by providing a praise or compliment about a display they liked and why. This will help them feel connected with each other and give them the ability to form meaningful connections with their peers. This will improve students' overall wellbeing and their social-acceptance among peers. My students will be promoting health and wellness initiatives in our class community.
The learning outcomes connected to their experience using the display frames and compliments will help my students express appreciation, admiration, or recognition towards others. It serves as a powerful tool for building connections, boosting self-esteem, and fostering a positive and inclusive environment. By encouraging students to give compliments, they will recognize and celebrate the strengths and achievements of their peers, promoting empathy and kindness.
